About The Mike Rose Soccer Complex
THE MIKE ROSE SOCCER COMPLEX is a Shelby County Government owned facility that is privately managed and operated by OS Memphis. This successful private/public partnership was engineered by Mayor Jim Rout, the corporate community, John Talley of OS Memphis and the local soccer community.

The Complex in Memphis, Tennessee sits on 136.17 acres conveniently off Bill Morris Parkway. The Mike Rose Soccer Complex was designed to accommodate exhibition games, tournaments, league games, special events, as well as academies, camps, clinics, and coaches' symposiums.

Field Specifications
There are 16 FIFA dimension (115 yds X 75 yds), hybrid Sports Bermuda grass, and lighted playing fields. The fields have a drainage system to assure quick dissipation of water during rain periods. In addition, a state of the art irrigation system is provided to guarantee a healthy stand of grass. Accompanying these fields are fully paved walkways, paved parking spots, permanent restrooms, shaded pavilions, a maintenance building with top of the line John Deere equipment, picnic and recreation area, and a 3-acre lake.

What Makes Us Special?
In August of 2001, the 2,500 plus seat stadium of the complex was complete. This crown jewel makes this facility America's Premier Soccer Complex. The playing surface is state of the art with an underground drainage and sprinkler system. This hybrid Bermuda field is completely flat and measures 116 yards by 72 - 76 yards. The stadium lighting is at 75-candle light. Participant facilities within the stadium structure include showers and locker rooms, a food court, corporate skybox, full media services, administrative offices and a conference room.  These on site facilities make the Mike Rose Soccer Complex the only ultimate soccer experience.
In honor of Mr. John C. Talley

Provided the inspiration and developed the business plan for the creation of the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, TN. As President and Founder of Shelby County Soccer Complex Inc, a nonprofit 501c3 corporation, he organized the private/public partnership that raised construction funds in the amount of 2.5 million dollars through corporate contributions, foundations and grants. John worked with the local clubs, associations and Tennessee Soccer to coordinate participation at the complex.

 

Simon Lacon, Assistant General Manager

Has a Master of Science degree in Human Performance/Exercise Physiology and a Master of Arts degree in Sports Management & Administration.  A native of England, his pursuit of this sport has led him from organizing tournaments in London, UK to directing and marketing camps for a US based soccer company.  Simon's responsibilities include coordinating all sponsorships, events, and contractual agreements.

 

Conni Stock, Hotel Division

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Mississippi and brings over 22 years of experience working to support recreational and competitive youth athletics in Shelby County.  Conni works closely with the community and the schools to help launch events and creative projects to promote a more diverse involvement for our youth at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.  One of Conni’s most rewarding projects has been the establishment of FC Legendinhos, Hispanic youth soccer club for U9-U14 boys and girls in the MidSouth area. 

 

Lindsey Borm, Hotel Division

Lindsey grew up in Memphis TN playing in many soccer matches. Her hard work helped her earn a scholarship to play soccer and attend Appalachian State University in 2003. She was an intrical part of the soccer program from the day she walked on to campus. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Promotions.

In her free time she enjoys playing soccer in the GMSA adult league at MRSC. She also enjoys working on projects associated with LeBonheur Children’s Medical Hospital. She has been a part of raising funds for the John C Talley Pediatric Neurological Research Fund for the past 10 years and has helped this fund raise over $200,000.

 

Kim Talley, General Manager

Brings the experience of business ownership to the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Her business included international and domestic sales. Kim and John, as a team, worked to develop soccer and a soccer complex in the MidSouth area. Kim has worked at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex since 1999.

 

Jessica Vinson, Hotel Coordinator

Has a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management and Communications from the University of Michigan. Played on the Region II Olympic Development Team and was the goalkeeper for University of Michigan all fours years of her undergraduate program. Her interest and experience with the game has led her to pursue a career within Soccer Facility Administration.

She has been the hotel coordinator since 1999 and assists youth teams in finding accommodations for the tournaments.  Jessica stays active in the soccer community by playing in various adult leagues such as GMSA, NASL, Womens and indoor.  Also, she and her husband partnered up with GMSA to run the River City for Itty Bitties 7v7 Adult Soccer Tournament to benefit the March of Dimes.

 

Bryan Kusler, Fields and Grounds Superintendent

Has over 12 years of work experience in maintenance and turf grass management. He began his career in Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena, which held a vast number of sporting events, concerts and a variety of shows.

After moving to Memphis in 1991, Brian held the position as the Second Assistant Superintendent at TPC Southwind, which hosts the annual Fed Ex / St Jude Classic on the PGA Tour. He is currently a member of the Sports Turf Managers Association and the TN Turfgrass Association. Brian is a loving husband and a proud father of three children.

 

Carey Talley, Marketing Division

Was drafted in 1998 in the 2nd round, 14th overall, of Major League Soccer by DC United. He enjoyed 13 years of professional soccer with teams such as DC United, Kansas City Wizards, FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake, Chivas USA, and The New York Red Bulls. He retired in 2010, #8 on the all- time games played list (315) and returned to Memphis to work at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Played soccer for 4 years at The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill from 1994-1997 and played for U-17, U20, and U-23 US National Teams.
